Job description

Assists the Softball Program with coaching, recruiting, and training for athletic competition at the Division I level. Adheres to all governing procedures and regulations of the Athletic Department, University, Conference, and the NCAA.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Assists in the evaluation, identification, recruitment, and retention of student-athletes for the Women’s Softball Program in accordance with University, Conference and NCAA guidelines and standards. Maintains accurate records of recruiting activities as required.
  • Monitors academic progress, including advising, mentoring, and instructing as assigned.
  • Assists with coordinating training and practice sessions. Ensures that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.
  • Assists with coordination of team travel and logistics.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships that reflect courtesy, civility, and mutual respect.
  • Builds productive relationships with internal and external constituencies.
  • Commits to organizational improvement by identifying opportunities to improve, recommending possible alternatives for a situation.
  • Utilizes coaching and mentoring methods which provide an environment that is anticipatory, supportive and encourages constructive feedback on performance.
  • Assumes responsibility for decision making in the absence of the Head Coach.
  • Works with Athletic Marketing and Promotions to increase program visibility and game attendance.
  • Other reasonably related duties as assigned by the head coach.

Qualifications

  • Required:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel normally requiring a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor & motivate student athletes.

Preferred

• Playing and/or coaching experience at the Division 1 level.
