The Teacher’s Assistant supports teaching staff by assisting with Afterschool Program activities, maintaining a positive environment, and supervising children across various locations while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Essential duties include assisting with or leading activities, coordinating efforts with lead teachers, managing meal logistics, and performing necessary administrative and logistical tasks.
A minimum of six units in Child Development or equivalent experience is desired, along with over one year of experience working with children and youth, and the ability to pass a Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance. The Teacher’s Assistant (ASP) assists teaching staff in carrying out Afterschool Program activities, helps to maintain a positive and supportive environment, and is responsible for supervising the children and youth in classrooms, halls, school yards, etc., and enforcing all FYCC policies and procedures. The Teacher’s Assistant will ‘float’ from room to room to provide teaching assistance as needed. The Teacher’s Assistant is responsible for complying with, and ensuring compliance with DCYF (Department of Children, Youth and Families), CA Community Care Licensing, Department of Social Services requirements. This person must be able to work a flexible schedule (some evenings); regular and predictable attendance is essential.
