  • The Family Resource Center (FRC) is launching a new service focused on strengthening connections between Family Childcare (FCC) providers, families and the FRC.
  • The Family Coach will be a key member in building trusting, collaborative relationships with FCC providers, families and caregivers.
  • In this role, you will build relationships with FCC providers and using a family centered coaching approach, to help providers and parents identify strengths, priorities, and goals related to parenting, child development, and overall family well-being.
  • The Family Coach supports family led goal setting and adapts services based on family needs.
  • The role serves as a connector linking families to the FRC and other Glide and external services.

Must be willing and able to periodically work non-traditional hours (early evenings, holidays and weekends).

  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • A large part of the Family Coach position is outreach and will require time out in the field in both San Francisco and Treasure Island so ability to work at different locations is required.
  • The Family Coach serves as a mentor and helps parents navigate parenting challenges.
  • Support families in reaching their identified goals such as improving parenting practices and obtaining resources that can support family stabilization.
  • Provides coaching in the areas of child development, family bonding, behavior support, stress reduction and more.
  • Provide holistic and comprehensive services such as delivering intake assessments and supporting goal setting, long-term action plan development, progress monitoring advocacy and referrals.

  • Maintain and active caseload of families and manage engagement in alignment with program expectations and supervisor guidance.
  • Meet with families on a regular basis, with frequency and intensity guided by family needs and program guidelines, in coordination with supervision
  • Assist in triage as a liaison for FCC Providers and their families to grow a network of support and trust through the FRC.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered during outreach work, in other GLIDE programs, outside agencies, and with the public.
  • Serve as connector building a team of support that surrounds each family and guides them towards their self-identified goals.
  • Participate in outreach efforts in the Tenderloin neighborhood, Treasure Island, and directly with FCC Providers to build strong relationships.
  • Participate in Mobile Outreach to Treasure Island and SF FCC’s.
  • Document family participation goals, progress and outcomes in designated data systems in a timely and accurate manner, using date and reflective practice to inform coaching strategies.
  • Offer a variety of programming for the community, including but not limited to, workshops on parenting, facilitate parent support groups, and collaborate with team members to carry out successful family events.
  • Minimum Education and/or Experience

    • Must be able to drive Glide vehicle.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in family services with children and parents.
    • Training or experience in Family Centered Coaching, strengths based coaching, or related family models.
    • Training or experience in trauma informed care
    • Familiarity with 123 Magic, Conscious Discipline, social-emotional learning, or other relationship-based behavior support approaches.
    • Understanding of family systems, early childhood development, and parent-child relationships.
    • Experienced at engaging in reflective practice, receiving feedback, and adapting approaches based on family readiness and context.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency using MS Office suite; Salesforce experience a plus.
    • Experienced working with low-income families, and people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
    • Skilled at building rapport with individuals and families while respecting family choice and maintaining appropriate boundaries and cultural competency.
    • Physical Requirements
    • Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • Ability to work on a computer and see details of objects at close range.
    • Ability to drive Glide vehicle.
    • Ability to hear within normal range, and communicate effectively (in person, telephone or Zoom).
    • Finger dexterity and the ability to use all standard office equipment.
    • Sit or stand comfortably, and the ability to navigate throughout office spaces (via elevator or stairs).

    \n $26.80 - $27.80 an hour This is a full-time 40-hour, Non-Exempt position. \n

    Work Environment

    GLIDE’s buildings are located in the Tenderloin neighborhood. GLIDE maintains an "open door" policy to the community and its clients, who frequently enter and leave the building.

    This role is covered by the collective bargaining agreement.
