Job description

Educational Diagnostician Role Mission

IDEA Public Schools works to ensure the success of all students and to address any barriers which may impact students from achieving incredible academic and social outcomes. The Educational Diagnostician works with the Special Programs team, regional leaders, campus leaders, parents, and Special Education and General Education teachers in an effort to maximize student outcomes.

  • The IDEA Educational Diagnostician demonstrates knowledge and skill in assessment, eligibility for Special Education, academic and behavioral interventions, state and federal legal frameworks for Special Education, and ensures compliance with Special Education legislation.
  • The Educational Diagnostician is a key partner in ensuring support of students and parents by helping problem solving interventions with students, who may be struggling both academically and behaviorally.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Location: This is a full-time position located in the Permian Basin.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate.
  • Travel Expectations: The Educational Diagnostician may be expected to travel between assigned campuses What You’ll Do – Accountabilities Essential Duties: Provide guidance and oversight to special education teachers and multidisciplinary teams in drafting, finalizing, and implementing compliant IEPs and ARD documentation, ensuring instructional alignment and high-quality academic, behavioral, and social programming, with 100% compliance for Initial, Annual, and Reevaluation timelines.
  • Collaborate with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and related service providers (VI, O&M, DHH, APE, PT) to ensure timely completion of ARD paperwork, delivery of services as written, and adherence to proper record-keeping procedures.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary Full and Individual Evaluations (excluding Speech-only, Autism, and Emotional Disability), reevaluations, and College Board accommodation evaluations, adhering to current professional testing standards and best practices.
  • Support campuses in Tier I–III problem-solving by guiding academic and behavioral interventions, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation, supporting Critical Student Instruction groups, and conducting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Support CPI implementation and campus de-escalation planning, guiding behavioral intervention strategies for students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.

Additional Skills: Required Education and Experience: · Master’s degree in Special Education or Education from accredited college or university · Texas Educational Diagnostician Certificate REQUIRED · At least 3 years experience as a campus Educational Diagnostician preferred Preferred Education and Experience: Physical Requirements: · Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area. · Must be able to climb ladders or scaffolding, or climb and work in overhead areas · Must be able to work in a confined space or to crawl or move about on hands and knees. · Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 20 pounds (regularly/occasionally) · Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs. · Must be able to lift and carry small children up to 40 pounds in case of emergency. · Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor environments, including in times of excessive heat or cold

    • Compensation & Benefits: Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $78,900 and $92,000, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
