  • We support students ages 5 to 22 with disabilities and challenging behaviors that significantly impede their learning.
  • Minnick Schools is a private special education day school for students with disabilities licensed by the Virginia Board of Education.
  • EnCircle is seeking a Special Education Case Manager.

The Special Education Case Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the implementation of a student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in the private day setting and acting as a liaison between the student’s teachers, support staff, parents, public school case manager, and other relevant professionals to ensure the students receive appropriate special education services and supports tailored to their individual needs.

Please note

This role requires driving, therefore a "clean driving record" is critical.

  • Minimum education, training, requirements and prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
  • Current and renewable Virginia teaching license with a Special Education endorsement required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working with diverse students with diverse disabilities and backgrounds.
  • Ability to serve as a mandated reporter of suspected or reported child and adult abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information and records in adherence with applicable agency/school policy and applicable laws and regulations.

  • DRIVING SPECIFIC (The following list may or may not be all inclusive at time of posting):
  • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 5 years:
  • Reckless driving, including speeding 20mph or more over the posted speed limit.
  • Driving under the influence/impaired/intoxicated or refusing a blood/breath test.
  • Manslaughter or negligent homicide.
  • Driving after being declared a habitual offender.
  • Driving on a suspended or revoked license
  • Driving a commercial motor vehicle while disqualified, under the influence, with a blood alcohol level of .04 or higher, refusing a blood/breath test, or violating an out-of-service order.
  • Injuring a person while racing - felony.
  • Failure to stop at the scene of a crash where there is injury, death, or property damage of $1000 or more.
  • Emergency vehicle violation - death.
  • Vehicular assault or willful stopping, impeding, or damaging a vehicle.
  • Blocking access to the service facility.
  • Attempting to elude police.
  • Operating an unsafe vehicle.
  • Vulnerable Road User – Death.
  • Must not have any of the following violations within the last 3 years:
  • Passing a stopped school bus.
  • Careless driving.
  • Three or more minor moving violations within the last three years.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities

    Essential Functions

    • May be required to perform any of the following duties:
    • Serve as a mandated reporter of suspected or reported child or adult abuse and neglect. Adherence to all related school, division, agency, and state policy, procedure, protocol, or legal requirement.
    • Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, or immediate safety threats directly to school administration as soon as possible.
    • Report non-safety concerns related to the preservation of student rights and dignity to supervisor as soon as possible.
    • Create and maintain the school calendar with IEP due dates.
    • Verify that all enrolled students have a current, signed IEP, and triennial evaluation on file and coordinate with the public school to obtain missing or incomplete documents.
    • Provide LEA representatives with the necessary information to develop annual IEPs and addendums/amendments as needed.
    • Participate in IEP meetings with public school representatives, teachers, school administration, and other relevant professionals to develop and review individualized education plans.
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to gather students’ academic and behavior data, to be entered into the Present level of Performance.
    • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop data driven goals to share with LEA for the IEP.
    • Contribute to the IEP as needed for transition planning for students aged 14 and older.
    • Create and distribute the IEP-at-a-Glance as directed.
    • Collaborate with the School Testing Coordinator and work as a backup for testing; provide testing accommodation to the staff for State and District testing.
    • Support students as needed during the school day when requested by teachers, administrators, or at the student’s request.
    • Set up IEP progress reports and collaborate with teachers to prepare clear and accurate reports.
    • Work with the principal to review IEP progress reports and upload them to shared folder.
    • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and instructional technology resource teachers to implement instructional strategies in the classroom that support progress towards mastery of student IEP goals.
    • Support Assistant Teachers and Educational Aides in conducting appropriate instructional exercises to support IEP goals.
    • Collaborate with Student Support Professionals and BCBAs/Behavior Specialists to support IEP goals as appropriate.
    • Coordinate with related services providers to facilitate the delivery of services and maintain a detailed log documenting the dates and times services are provided. Advocate for the students’ needs within the school to ensure appropriate accommodations and services are provided.
    • Collaborate with staff to ensure accommodations and modifications are provided accurately per the IEP.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of IEP meetings, progress monitoring data, and communication with parents, staff, outside service providers, and LEA representatives.
    • Support students in advocating for their own educational needs and preferences through programs such as “I’m Determined” to work toward students participating in their IEP meetings.
    • Collaborate and meet with Principals regularly to maintain the fidelity of all IEP records.
    • Research, identify, and present to direct supervisor relevant professional development opportunities to support individual growth.
    • All other duties as assigned.
