About the role

The Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum and managing the daily supervision of children in the classroom. Key duties include preparing lesson plans, maintaining a safe environment, and communicating developmental progress to parents.

  • About the Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher position The teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum in the classroom and for the supervision and management of children in the classroom. He or she must be knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate practices to supervise assistant teachers and children in their room, ensuring activities and curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director. Infant Teacher responsibilities are:
  • Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
  • Completes all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
  • Helps and supervises children during all activities
  • Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
  • Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules
  • Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities
  • Helps children with meal times and clean-up
  • Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment is in good working condition and is used and maintained properly
  • Physically arranges the classroom into well-defined interest areas
  • Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner
  • Communicates appropriate information to parents and maintains developmental profiles for children
  • Schedules and conducts parent/teacher conferences throughout the year
  • Maintains family information board and other classroom bulletin boards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Completes all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or equivalent certification accepted by the State Department of Education -2 years of classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility
  • Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management
  • Profound experience in child development and up-to-date education methods
  • Good patience, flexibility, and love for children
  • Strong methodical and creative abilities
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Certificate in first aid and CPR

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 21 years old with a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or an equivalent state-accepted certification. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility and First Aid/CPR certification are required.
