The Professional Academic Coach provides one-on-one consultations to help students develop academic resilience, organization, and study skills. Responsibilities include managing a student caseload, facilitating workshops, and teaching strategies for academic success.
Requires a Master's degree in education, psychology, social work, or a related field. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in academic coaching and experience working with secondary or post-secondary students.
The Professional Academic Coach will assist undergraduate and graduate students through one-on-one consultations to develop and strengthen skills that promote academic resilience, confidence, problem-solving skills, and self-regulated learning. Working with the academic coach, students will be encouraged to set goals and work towards accomplishing them through targeted action planning and the identification and utilization of resources. The academic coach will be responsible for responding to the individualized academic support and learning needs of students on their caseload. Through one-on-one meetings and other programming, the academic coach will assist students with the development and monitoring of their academic success skills (e.g. organization and planning; test preparation and study skills; and adaptive strategies for learning) and use of services.
This position is primarily in-person, working 1 day remotely.
This position is grant-funded; employment is contingent upon the continued availability of those funds.
This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from $45,330 - $68,000 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
