These state-of-the-art facilities will serve preschool children who are blind or have low vision, as well as multiple disabilities, autism, Down syndrome, or pervasive developmental delays. This expansion reflects HKSB’s commitment to ensuring that Long Island families have access to the same high-quality early education and support services that have transformed lives in our Brooklyn Children Learning Center.
We currently have an exciting opening for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired – Related Services Clinician in our soon to open Suffolk and Nassau County Preschools! The TVI – Related Services Clinician will work in the CLC’s preschool program providing one-to-one and small group sessions with preschool children who have special needs and whose IEP mandates vision-related services. The role also involves creation and recording of daily session notes, quarterly/annual report writing, data tracking, and all other documentation related to the position.
Specific responsibilities will include
Provide direct instruction to students in individual, small-group, and classroom settings through both pull-out and push-in service models.
Collaborate with classroom staff and related service providers to develop and implement adaptations, accommodations, and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
Adapt materials, learning environments, and instructional methods to support student access, participation, communication, and independence.
Support the development of communication, visual efficiency, sensory, cognitive, social-emotional, and adaptive skills through individualized instruction and intervention.
Maintaintimely,accurate, and compliant documentation, including session notes, progress monitoring, assessment results, service records, quarterly reports, annual reviews, IEP-related documentation, and other required program records.
Conduct and contribute to functional vision assessments, learning media assessments, and other vision-related evaluations, asappropriate.
