Join the Largest Pediatric Rehabilitation Provider in New Mexico MECA Therapies is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Early Intervention (FIT) team. As the largest pediatric rehabilitation provider in New Mexico, MECA Therapies is committed to helping children and families achieve their fullest potential through evidence-based, family-centered care. Our Occupational Therapists provide services in children's natural environments—including homes, childcare centers, and community settings—helping families build the skills and confidence needed to support their child's development during the most critical years of life. Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive evaluation, assessment, and treatment services to infants and toddlers (birth to three years of age) with developmental delays, disabilities, and diagnosed medical conditions. Services are delivered in accordance with each child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) and emphasize coaching caregivers to promote participation and development through everyday routines. Therapy services are provided in homes, childcare settings, and other community-based environments.

Qualifications

Required Master's degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Current or eligible licensure through the New Mexico Board of Occupational Therapy. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

  • Preferred Pediatric Occupational Therapy experience.
  • Early Intervention (Birth-to-Three/FIT Program) experience.
  • Experience with sensory integration, feeding, developmental delays, and adaptive equipment.
  • Infant-Toddler Developmental Assessment (IDA) Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Essential Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and assessments within professional scope of practice.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary eligibility evaluations and IFSP development.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that support each child's developmental goals.
  • Deliver occupational therapy services in homes, childcare centers, and community settings.
  • Address fine motor, sensory processing, feeding, self-help, adaptive, visual-motor, and developmental skills.
  • Coach parents and caregivers using evidence-based, family-centered intervention strategies.
  • Participate in Transdisciplinary Team Consultation Meetings (TTCMs), IFSP meetings, annual reviews, periodic reviews, and transition conferences.
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Developmental Specialists, Family Service Coordinators, physicians, and community partners.
  • Complete Infant-Toddler Developmental Assessment (IDA) certification and participate in developmental evaluations as assigned.
  • Monitor child progress and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Provide consultation and education to families and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and student interns when assigned, in accordance with New Mexico licensing regulations.
  • Perform additional duties that support quality patient care and program operations.
  • Caseload & Productivity Expectations Maintain an assigned caseload based on regional and program needs. Provide approximately 27 direct therapy hours per week, equivalent to approximately 1,296 direct therapy hours annually for a full-time position. Deliver services according to each child's IFSP. Meet established productivity expectations while maintaining high-quality clinical care and documentation.

    • Documentation & Compliance Complete treatment documentation accurately and at the time of service whenever possible.
    • Submit required documentation according to established departmental timelines.
    • Complete evaluation reports within three (3) business days.
    • Document participation in TTCMs, IFSP meetings, progress reviews, and care coordination activities.
    • Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant medical records.
    • Participate in documentation reviews and quality assurance audits.
    • Comply with all New Mexico FIT Program, IDEA Part C, HIPAA, licensing, payer, and MECA documentation requirements.

    Professional Development Occupational Therapists are expected to

    Maintain active New Mexico Occupational Therapy licensure. Complete all required continuing education. Obtain and maintain IDA certification as required. Attend mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Remain current with evidence-based pediatric and Early Intervention practices. Participate in interdisciplinary collaboration and mentoring opportunities.

    Supervision Licensed Occupational Therapists may supervise

    Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) Occupational Therapy students Student interns or observers Supervision will be provided in accordance with the New Mexico Occupational Therapy Practice Act, licensing board requirements, and MECA Therapies' supervision guidelines.
