Certification
Valid Texas Educator Certification in Visual Impairment (EC-12) issued by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Certification through the Academy for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP) as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist is preferred but not required.
Additional
Requirements: Knowledge of special education laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and familiarity with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process. CPR certification is preferred.

Proficiency: Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.

Your responsibilities will include:
Develop
Individualized
Plans: Collaborate with ARD committees to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) that address the unique needs of students with visual impairments.

Instruction: Deliver instruction in core and expanded core curricula, including Braille literacy, assistive technology, daily living skills, sensory efficiency, and compensatory skills essential for students’ success.
