Position Overview As a Childcare Watch Attendant, you will provide safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate care for members’ children. Families trust you to create a positive and welcoming environment where children feel secure and supported while parents focus on their workouts.
You’ll Receive Complimentary YMCA Membership for Part-Time employees. An additional adult family member may be added for $20 per month. Participation in the National YMCA Retirement Fund, a defined contribution plan. Employees become eligible for a 12% employer contribution after completing 1,000 hours of service in each of two 12-month periods (doesn’t have to be consecutive). All staff are eligible to make voluntary 403(b) retirement contributions (no employer match). Discounts on YMCA Programs (Immediate Family) 50% discount for staff working 20 or more hours per pay period 25% discount for staff working 10–19 hours per pay period 15% discount for staff working fewer than 10 hours per pay period What You’ll Do: Create a safe, creative, and engaging atmosphere for children of varying ages. Provide constant visual and auditory supervision to ensure child safety at all times. Maintain program standards related to safety, health, and cleanliness. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to behavior management, medical situations, emergency response, and child abuse prevention. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with youth. Monitor and manage high-risk activities in accordance with supervision guidelines. Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and any policy violations. Comply with all mandated abuse reporting requirements. Build positive relationships with parents, guardians, and team members. Attend required staff meetings and complete all mandatory trainings, including abuse risk management What We’re Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Completion of, or enrollment in, an early childhood education program preferred. Experience working with children in a state-accredited childcare setting preferred. Ability to actively supervise children and respond to emergencies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow policies, procedures, and licensing requirements.
