About the role

Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Temporary Instructor position in the Department of Nursing in the Marjorie K.

Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026.

This appointment is for AY2026-2027; which may be renewable up to a maximum of three years, inclusive of the initial appointment.

The candidate would be expected to teach 12 credits per semester; during Fall and Spring semesters.

The search will remain open until the position is filled.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

The mission of the Department of Nursing of the Marjorie K. Unterberg School of Nursing and Health Studies is to provide high-quality BSN, MSN, DNP, and Post-Graduate programs to a diverse student population for the development of nurse leaders. Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing or an earned doctorate degree in nursing.
  • New Jersey professional registered nurse and/or nurse practitioner licensure or eligibility with a license required at time of employment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of direct care experience as a registered nurse or a minimum of one (1) year as a certified/licensed advanced practice nurse.
  • Documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and a demonstrated (or potential to demonstrate) ongoing disciplinary currency and/or scholarly achievement.
  • Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of teaching experience in the classroom, skills/sim lab, or as a clinical instructor in Nursing at a college or university.
  • Nursing practice as a licensed RN or Nurse Practitioner with recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
  • Maternal-child and pediatric experience a plus.
  • Multilingual applicants from diverse, minority, or underrepresented backgrounds encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach 12 credits per semester during the Fall and Spring semester of classroom, simulation-based, lab, clinical instruction, and/or other settings.
  • Ensure that courses include essential curricular components, use appropriate content and instructional strategies, and remain current.
  • Coordinate, plan, organize, and instruct courses through traditional and other formats as assigned.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide student feedback based on course learning outcomes and objectives.
  • Provide remediation as needed based on student performance and individualized learning needs.
  • Submit student grades and required documentation in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Maintain disciplinary currency commensurate with assigned teaching responsibilities as defined in the departmental or school scholarship statements. Disciplinary currency includes maintenance of licensure and specialty certifications, currency in practice as a Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner, as it relates to your teaching assignments and service to your department, school, University, and community.
  • Comply with University policies and procedures.
  • Work effectively and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Other duties as assigned
