The Lead Teacher is responsible for the direct supervision, safety, and well-being of children within the childcare center. This includes planning and implementing classroom activities and ensuring all licensing requirements are met.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess or be willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, and Infection Control certifications. Physical ability to lift children and assist those in wheelchairs is required.
Under the general supervision of the Morning or Afternoon Supervisor and accountable to the Program Director, and the Board of Directors, the Program Leader will be responsible for the direct supervision of the children at the Center, develop appropriate activities for the children’s ability level and ensure the safety and well-being of the children.
1. Assists in the planning, development and implementation of one of the classrooms in the childcare center
2. Responsible for the safety and well-being of the children in the assigned classroom
3. Responsible for insuring licensing requirements are being met at all times
4. Works directly with the children in implementing the Center’s program
5. Serves as a role model for the children
6. Helps the children
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Must be at least 16 years of age.
2. Must have taken Infection Control training and/or retraining.
3. Must satisfactorily complete required annual training hours as specified by Licensing Standards.
1. Free of Tuberculosis (TB) in communicable form
2. Physically able to lift up children to changing table or to lower children to changing mat on the floor.
3. Able to assist children with evacuation.
4. Able to move children in wheelchairs.
