Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Provides care and prevention of athletic injuries for specified varsity sports. Assists in the daily activities in the training room, medical record keeping, supervision of student assistants and interns and maintenance of cleanliness and order of training room. Assists with the development and implementation of programs for injury prevention and rehabilitation. Assists students in accessing appropriate medical care through University Health Services and team physicians. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides coverage for assigned varsity intercollegiate teams, including coverage of all practices and games and appropriate follow-up on all reported injuries. Evaluates athletic injuries to determine nature and extent of injury and makes return-to-play decisions. Provides necessary care and proper referral to UHS or team physicians. Administers care and rehabilitation of injuries as prescribed by team physicians. Provides functional testing during rehabilitation to determine return to practice and or game activity. Serves as a liaison to University Health Services and University Sports Medicine. Aids students in accessing UHS, team physicians, and medical specialists. Ensures completion of pre-participation physical exams and monitors follow-up care. Supervises student assistants and interns, following the athletic training room policies and procedures. Provides in-service training/education. Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Athletic Training Room. Assists in maintenance of inventory and control of supplies in training room. Advises, counsels, and educates student athletes and coaches on conditions, nutrition, and psychological aspects of coping with an injury. Teaches CPR and First Aid courses, a maximum of two courses per academic year. Continues professional growth through involvement in coaching associations and educational activities. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience with collegiate athletes, with a Master's degree preferred. Must hold NATA certification, CPR and First Aid certifications, and New York State licensure as an athletic trainer.
