We're looking for a compassionate, motivated, and organized Vocational Counselor to join our team.
In this role, you'll work directly with individuals to identify career goals, develop employment plans, build workplace skills, and support successful long-term employment.

The Vocational Counselor provides individualized employment services to veterans and individuals with disabilities throughout Fairfax and surrounding communities. This position combines career counseling, job development, employer engagement, and ongoing employment support to help individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable employment. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel throughout the service area.
Key Responsibilities Career Planning & Counseling Conduct vocational assessments to identify strengths, interests, skills, and employment goals.
Develop individualized employment plans tailored to each person's needs.
Provide career exploration, resume development, interview preparation, and job readiness training.
Employment Services Assist individuals in obtaining competitive employment opportunities.
Provide individualized job coaching and workplace support.
Monitor employment progress and provide ongoing follow-up services to promote job retention.
Coordinate services with community partners, referral agencies, and support teams.
Employer Engagement Build relationships with local employers to identify employment opportunities.
Educate employers on workplace accommodations and inclusive hiring practices.
Match qualified candidates with appropriate job openings based on skills and employer needs.
Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate case notes, employment records, and service documentation.
Ensure compliance with program requirements, funding sources, and company policies.
Monitor client progress toward employment goals and outcomes.
Required Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities effectively. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the service area. Ability to complete required background screenings. Preferred Experience providing supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, workforce development, disability services, or case management. Experience working with veterans or individuals with disabilities. Knowledge of community employment resources and workforce development programs. Certifications such as ACRE, CESP, WIP-C, or CRC are preferred but not required.
