Overview Genesee Lake School is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher for their Day School Intensive Classroom!

Genesee Lake School (GLS) is both a therapeutic day school & residential treatment center for children and young adults with Autism and neurological, emotional and/or developmental disabilities.

We have received the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) award for three consecutive years.

Our 160-acre campus in the countryside near Oconomowoc provides an ideal setting for our students to learn, develop and achieve their potential.

The school calendar follows the typical 180 educational days with the opportunity to attend Extended School Year for students in need of this programming.

POSITION PURPOSE Develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, evaluate and assess student progress, and act as a leader within the classroom and school environment.

Ensure all special education documentation and services are in compliance with special education legal requirements.

This position will specifically work with students from intensive programs that provide a highly structured, therapeutically/behaviorally advanced setting for students.

DESCRIPTION: Review records of incoming students and be prepared to include student in the classroom Working knowledge of IEPs, develop and track IEP goals, collaborate with stakeholders in IEP completion.

Completes and submits necessary paperwork, lesson plans, instructional data, behavior data, and weekly summaries or paperwork deadlines as assigned to immediate supervisor or designee in a timely fashion as scheduled per students assigned.

Works as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes therapists, TSS’s, BCBA’s, case coordinators, SLPs, OTs, medical staff, education, program staff and families, collaborating and consulting to champion use of behavioral and intensive therapeutic interventions and strategies across programs within GLS.

Provides classroom orientation to classroom support staff.

Part of team that conducts formal Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and applicable clinical assessments to inform behavior plans Supports the development of Additional Support Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans for students requiring intensive intervention by contributing advanced analysis, function-based strategies, and data interpretation.

Models behavioral strategies in real time by working directly with students when appropriate, using these opportunities to coach staff, demonstrate best practices, and build staff confidence in applying interventions independently.

Contributes expertise to the development of processes, tools, resources, and fidelity checks to advance the application of Positive Behavior Supports.

Collaborates consistently with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure implementation of PBIS practices and social–emotional skill instruction across classrooms by modeling, coaching, and monitoring adherence to proactive instructional routines and positive behavior supports.

Analyzes behavioral data collection systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper tracking of student progress, providing objective feedback and recommendations to strengthen intervention fidelity and outcomes.

Contributes to the development of crisis-intervention protocols to ensure high-intensity behaviors are managed safely and ethically.

Assists in training of staff on proactive and reactive strategies (e.g., de-escalation, reinforcement schedules, functional communication training).

Collaborate across MyPath companies to share expertise, exchange resources, and align therapeutic practices, contributing to the development and advancement of consistent, evidence-based approaches across the organization.

Assists in delivering advanced training and professional development to improve staff competencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Bachelor's degree in special education and certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in special education Required.

Three years of teaching experience required Strong interest in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and a commitment to working with individuals with disabilities required.

Interest in continued education and professional growth within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, including potential pursuit of a Master’s level ABA program aligned with BACB Fieldwork requirements.

Participation in supervised fieldwork toward BCBA certification is preferred when mutually agreed upon by the employee and supervisor and aligned with organizational needs.

Excellent observation, data collection, and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse populations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to various environments and settings.

Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience supporting children, adolescents and/or young adults diagnosed with emotional, mental health, neurological and/or developmental disabilities.

Demonstrated ability to integrate Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in residential or educational settings.

Completion of additional training within 4 months of starting position.

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in special education and certification by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Candidates must have at least three years of teaching experience and a strong interest in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
