Job Summary The Accelerated Schools is currently seeking a Special Education Instructional Aide to join an exceptional team of educators serving the youth of South Los Angeles. Under the direction of a certificated teacher, the Special Education Instructional Aide supports the delivery of instruction to individual or small groups of special education students, assists with IEP implementation, and helps maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. What You Will Do Instructional Support Assist a certificated teacher in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of special education students in a classroom or other learning environment. Monitor and oversee student tests, practices, and assignments in various subjects. IEP & Behavioral Support Assist assigned teacher with the implementation of IEPs and behavior plans; confer with the teacher concerning IEPs, lesson plans, and materials to meet student needs. Student Guidance & Social-Emotional Support Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects in various subject areas. Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures; assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, respectful attitude, and general guidance. Clerical & Administrative Support Perform routine clerical duties. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Required An associate of arts degree; or two years of college; or demonstrated, through a state or local academic assessment, knowledge of, and the ability to assist in the instruction of reading and writing Previous experience working with special needs students including supporting students' behavioral needs Enjoys working with children and is interested in a career in education Self-starter; computer literate; communicates effectively both orally and in writing Ability to work effectively in a positive manner with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring tact, judgment, stability, and poise Preferred Bilingual – Spanish Compensation and Benefits: $25.15/hour Work Schedule Monday – Friday, Full-Time August – June (10-month) work calendar To Apply: Please visit Paycom to complete the application.
