About the role

The instructor is responsible for delivering effective instruction and assessment for the Healthcare Specialist program using common syllabi. Duties include managing student attendance, grading, and utilizing educational technology to facilitate learning.

Ivy Tech Community College of Evansville is searching for high-quality adjunct faculty to support the Healthcare Specialist program.

This role will instruct students who may go on to have careers as a Healthcare Specialist or Clinical Support Assistant. These classes will be taught at the Deaconess Health Science Building Downtown in downtown Evansville, IN.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis.

The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.

PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.

Submits requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS: Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.

Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).

Use technology such as Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.

Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range: $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8-week course).

Work Hours: This role would start in August and run during the fall term.

The classes for this role will run in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A qualified faculty member in Healthcare Specialist meets all three of the following criteria:
  • Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience
  • Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients

Requirements

Candidates must possess a baccalaureate degree or higher and have at least two years of directly related work experience. A certification or licensure in a healthcare discipline providing direct patient care is also required.
