About the role

Assist the Head Coach in managing the Cross Country intercollegiate sports program, including coaching during events and recruiting student-athletes. Handle administrative tasks such as travel arrangements, facility scheduling, and ensuring compliance with NCAA and institutional rules.

$14.00 per hour

Position Summary

Responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the management and administration of the Cross Country intercollegiate sports program.

Duties/Responsibilities

Assist with coaching responsibilities during athletic events.

Attend coaches’ preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings.

Scout for and recruit quality student-athletes and coordinates recruiting activities with the Head Coach.

Work with student-athletes and monitors adherence to rules and regulations for conduct, appearance, and behavior.

Arrange van travel, charter bus, charter air or commercial air transportation.

Secure ground transportation, arrange team meals and meeting space while on road trips. Secure practice times and facilities.

Coordinate complimentary ticket list.

Keep accurate records and provide business manager with receipts and information necessary for the accurate completion of University forms.

Participate in annual continuing education as required by the NCAA, Conference and/or Institution is required.

Adhering to all NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules and regulations is required at all times. All violations must be reported to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Director of Compliance or their designee immediately.

Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Familiarity with OVC and NCAA rules and regulations.

Proficiency with computers, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, database, email software.

Excellent verbal, written, organizational, management and administrative skills.

Proven ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, alumni, and administrative staff.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Related playing, coaching, and athletics administration experience preferred.

Functional Requirements

Extensive physical activity at athletic events and practices to oversee activities and to interact with athletes, officials and attendees.

Remaining in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for extended periods of time for a number of assigned duties.

Frequent physical access to meeting rooms and events throughout campus, as well as to local, regional, and national venues.

Ability to use of computers and computer systems (hardware and software) to enter data, to retrieve and process information and to create documents.

Ability to retrieve information from written documents and from computer-generated reports.

Positive interaction at all times with students, athletes, and athletic event officials and attendees.

The presentation of a consistently professional demeanor at all times, even in difficult, negative or frustrating situations.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8

00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Frequent irregular hours including evenings and weekends required.

Hours not to exceed 28 hours per week.

Frequent travel required to the local and regional area.
