Position Summary

This position is responsible for instructing students in required academic courses necessary for the pursuit of the associates degree in Nursing. The incumbent in this role will be required to complete all required and necessary assessment reports related to the course(s) taught at the request of the college/Academic Director as it relates to accreditation and assessment. The incumbent in the position may be required to travel to satellite locations and/or locations designed by the college for instruction. The incumbent in this position must have a and maintain a valid driver’s license without restrictions.

Duties & Responsibilities

Prepares and presents classroom lectures and implements techniques to facilitate student active learning. ● Provides clinical supervision of students in various clinical experiences and serves as a liaison to assigned clinical facilities. ● Participates in program, and curriculum development along with course and program outcome assessments; maintaining faculty expectations for positive program accreditation and board of nursing approval. ● Evaluates student outcomes throughout the curriculum utilizing assessment data to improve teaching and student learning strategies within courses; continuous development of department strategic plan. ● Advises and mentors nursing students for success. ● Participates in assigned committees, recruitment, and activities; collaborates with faculty within partnerships to meet student needs. ● Maintains currency in the field by conducting ongoing research and participates in professional development. ● This position requires regular travel to affiliated clinical facilities and satellite locations as identified by the college and may be required to provide on-site instruction, supervision, and assessment of students participating in clinical experiences. ● Provides a positive classroom environment conducive to a positive student learning environment. ● Disseminates and analyzes reports and data from faculty related to the assessment of student Nursing Instructor-FT REV:7-8-26 learning to include attendance, failing grades, SLOAs, Program Review, accreditation reports etc. ● Participates in recruitment on behalf of the department. ● Prepares institutional and external reports as directed/needed. ● Candidates must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license with no restrictions and be willing to travel to distant locations as identified by the college. ● Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES ● Adult learning theory, curriculum development and classroom, laboratory and field presentation techniques. ● Knowledge of counseling and advising methods and techniques. ● Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to designated field of study. ● Knowledge of basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices. ● Ability to operate equipment and perform work related to designated field. ● Ability to supervise students in clinical work experience settings. ● Ability to prepare and present classroom lectures and laboratory work. ● Proficient in the use of standard office equipment, including computer and standard office equipment and applications including but not limited to the Microsoft suite, Google suite used by the college.

Work environment and physical factors

● Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. ● The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and visual inspection. ● Exposure to hazardous materials/chemicals in skills lab and clinical settings, and/or infectious diseases in community health settings.

Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree accepted

must obtain a MSN within 5 years of employment ● At least two (2) years of clinical nursing experience is required ● Must possess and maintain an unencumbered RN license to practice in New Mexico ● Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions for the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
