Grayson Cares Counselor

Role

Provides comprehensive mental health services through assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals. Expands access to mental health and social support resources by collaborating with campus and community partners to reduce barriers, promote student well-being, and support student retention and success.

This position is funded by a grant and is contingent upon continued grant funding. Employment beyond the current grant period is subject to the availability of grant funds.

The salary for this position is $49,281.02 and $73,921.54 per year based on applicable experience.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 60% Provides professional counseling services to students experiencing mental health and personal concerns. Conducts assessments, maintains clinical documentation, and prepares required reports. Connects students with the Case Manager for appropriate campus and community resources to address basic needs and other barriers to success. Responds to campus mental health emergencies through crisis assessment, intervention, and consultation. 15% Supports departmental outreach efforts by assisting with workshops, presentations, and campus events that promote mental health awareness, student well-being, and available Grayson Cares resources. Collaborates with campus partners to increase awareness of services and encourage help-seeking behaviors. 10% Assists with Grayson Cares programs and initiatives that address students' basic needs by providing referrals and support for emergency aid, food assistance, and other available campus and community resources. 10% Assists with developing outcomes, accountability, and predictive analytics for students receiving emergency aid services and the student population in general. 5% Performs other job duties as assigned. Skills:

Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education

Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field.

Licensed through the state of

Texas as a: Licensed Professional Counselor’ Supervisor, Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate (LPC-A), Licensed Clinical Social Worker’ Supervisor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Master Social Worker (working towards LCSW, under supervision).

Interpersonal

Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other

Skills: Computer proficiency required (MS Office products preferred) with the ability to learn new systems and applications as needed. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Previous experience with grant administration preferred.

Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
