The School Nurse oversees and coordinates general and emergency health needs for students while managing medication records and dispensing prescriptions. Additionally, the role involves providing health education to students and staff and administering annual vaccinations for employees.
Responsibilities
The LifeWorks School in Doylestown, PA is hiring for a Full-Time Certified School Nurse (CSN) to support our school system for the 2026-2027 Academic School Year and ongoing for future school years.
This position will cover both the academic school and extended school year (Summer program).
The School Nurse: Oversees, assesses, and coordinates the general and emergency health needs of students.
Maintains medication records and dispenses routine and PRN medications as permitted on School Emergency Cards.
Communicates and coordinates student sick care decisions and reports among parents/guardians, teachers, and counselors.
Provides education on general adolescent health topics to students.
Provides staff education, initiates, plans and oversees workshops and school assembly topics pertinent to the school populations, including risky health habits and practices.
Responsible for administering and documenting annual TB testing and flu vaccine for Lifeworks staff.
The LifeWorks Schools are licensed specialty therapeutic day schools for students in middle and high school effected by social, emotional, or behavioral health challenges.

RN with an active Pennsylvania license, from an accredited school of nursing.
Pennsylvania School Nurse Certification required.
Knowledge of child and adolescent mental health and behavioral issues, autism, and associated health care concerns required.
A minimum of two years experience working as a professional in the psychiatric or school nursing field is preferred, especially in a child/adolescent psychiatric, autism spectrum disorders, or a school setting.
Must have basic computer skills or willingness to learn.

Requirements
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with an active Pennsylvania license and Pennsylvania School Nurse Certification. Knowledge of adolescent mental health and autism is required, with a preference for at least two years of experience in psychiatric or school nursing.
