The Teaching Assistant supports classroom teachers by delivering subject matter and tutoring students individually or in small groups. They are also responsible for classroom management and adapting to the specific medical and emotional needs of students.

Classroom Management Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom Help manage behavior of student(s) as needed Lesson Preparation and Delivery Discuss assigned duties with classroom teacher(s) in order to coordinate instructional efforts Present subject matter to student(s) under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions or supervised role-playing methods Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student's special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs Work with individual student(s) or small groups to develop needed skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher Keep teacher informed of special needs and/or problems of student(s) What are the required qualifications?

PA Teaching Certification Willingness to go through (and pass!) the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: four clearances, mandated reporter training, a physical and TB test, and CPR Certification.

This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.

Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a PA Teaching Certification and pass all required safety clearances, including a physical and TB test. Physical capacity for standing, walking, and bending throughout an eight-hour day is required.
