Collaborates and co-teaches daily with other educators and specialists in the planning, adapting and teaching of the curriculum for all learners. Collaborates with other educators and specialists in the planning, adaptation, and teaching of the curriculum for students. Plans and implements motivating and creative age-appropriate lessons and activities to address goals as outlined in each student’s IEP. Collaborate with other teachers and therapists to implement an integrated educational/therapeutic model. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content throughout the academic year. Progress monitors all students’ goals with fidelity. Maintain data records on each student's progress be used to write accurate evaluations, goals, and/or progress reports. Knowledge and practice of methods for formatively assessing students. Bachelor's or master's degree in special education. Valid Certification from RIDE as a Special Education Teacher in Severe/Profound or Mild/Moderate with willingness to pursue Severe/Profound disabilities certification. Work environment and physical requirements are consistent with those of a typical school environment. Ability to sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the workday. Bend, stoop, squat, push and pull (10-15% of the time). Kneel and reach above shoulder level occasionally (1-33% of the time). Utilize the Computer (20%) of the time and other office equipment. Lift and carry students as well as transfer students from wheelchairs to equipment as required. Usually requires the ability to lift 100 pounds frequently with the assistance of another staff member or adaptive equipment; 35 pounds independently (67-100% of the time). Physically able to position physical/occupational therapy equipment, splints, etc. Ability to use applicable equipment.
