About the role

The teacher is responsible for planning and delivering a 5th grade math instructional program to help students reach their academic potential. Key duties include creating lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and collaborating with colleagues and parents.

Job Overview

To plan, organize, and implement a grade level appropriate instructional program in a middle school math classroom that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Responsibilities

and Duties:

  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities.
  • Create a positive educational climate for students.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Create standard based lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  • Maintain grade books in Power School that are updated regularly.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assist with arrivals and dismissal of students.
  • Assist with coverage of other classes as needed.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with other colleagues.
  • Selects books, instructional aids and supplies that aid in the teaching of the curriculum.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher, Principal or his/her designee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
  • One or more years of teaching experience.
  • Communication skills and interpersonal skills preferred.
  • PA Certification.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree or higher and possess a valid PA Certification. One or more years of teaching experience and strong interpersonal communication skills are preferred.
