Position Summary

Visiting Assistant Professor non-tenure track position 2026-2027 academic year for the online Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC). This is a one-year position, remote eligible, within the Counselor Education Department. The position requires licensure as an LMHC or eligibility for licensure, an earned doctorate in counseling from CACREP accredited program or counseling-related degree, familiarity with CACREP accreditation standards, and clinical experience as a counselor. The successful applicant must have knowledge and skills necessary for curriculum development, instruction, and evaluation at the graduate level. Job Responsibilities: Teach a minimum of 24 credits per year during the 2026-2027 academic year. Familiarity with technology to assess student competencies and benchmarks. Actively support the management and administration of the CMHC program, including assisting with department accreditation tasks (e.g., assessment) and course curriculum audits, in keeping with CACREP accreditation requirements. Attend department and faculty assembly meetings.

All selected candidates will be required to complete a background check. Qualifications Doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from CACREP accredited program. Or, related doctoral degrees will be considered if the applicant has been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2013. The candidate identifies with the counseling profession as defined by CACREP (2024) aligned with CACREP philosophy. Previous teaching experience. Meet CACREP standard to serve as a core faculty member. Licensed as LMHC, equivalent license, or license eligible. Must have competency in Blackboard, Zoom, PC applications Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

Evidence of effective teaching performance with proficiency in various teaching modalities including online synchronous, online asynchronous, and blended learning. Prior or current clinical experience in clinical mental health counseling practice.

Requirements

Requires a doctoral degree in counselor education or a related field and licensure as an LMHC or eligibility for licensure. Candidates must have clinical experience as a counselor and proficiency in online teaching technologies.
