Full Time, 1.0 FTE Starting at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, for the entire school year

About the Role

  • Ampersand Therapy is hiring a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students in Gastonia, NC. In this role, you’ll provide individualized instruction, develop IEPs, and create inclusive learning environments that help students succeed. You’ll work with a collaborative district and a supportive, therapist-run team.   • + 401(k) with company match Reimbursement for licensure and professional development + referral bonuses What You’ll Do Provide direct instruction and consultative services as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) aligned with IEP goals Adapt curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials to support students with hearing loss in accessing general education Deliver targeted support in language development, auditory skills, speech, and literacy for deaf and hard of hearing students Conduct assessments and evaluations and support IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teams, SLPs, and families to improve student outcomes Manage and support assistive hearing technology (e.g., FM/DM systems, hearing aids, cochlear implants) Implement classroom accommodations, accessibility supports, and inclusive practices for students with hearing impairments Ensure compliance with IDEA, special education law What We’re Looking For Valid North Carolina Permanent Teaching license in area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing from NCDPI (must be permanent license) Strong classroom management and collaboration skills About Ampersand Therapy Ampersand Therapy is a women- and therapist-operated company built by providers who understand school-based work. Requirements

Must possess a valid North Carolina Permanent Teaching license in the area of Deaf and Hard of Hearing from NCDPI. Strong skills in classroom management and professional collaboration are required.
