The nurse is responsible for assessing student health, developing individualized care plans, and administering treatments to students in grades 6-12. They must collaborate with healthcare providers and families to coordinate care and maintain accurate medical records.

Reporting to the School Leader, this is a 10-month, exempt position.
Our program begins with middle-school-level; however, our instructional scope begins with Kindergarten-level material.
Most Fugees Academy students begin middle school performing well below grade level.
Key Responsibilities Assess patient health problems, symptoms, needs, and overall condition.
Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
Administer nursing care to patients who are ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled.
Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition.
Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare providers.
Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and families to coordinate care.
Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, treatment plans, and post-care instructions.
Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
Follow established clinical procedures, safety standards, and infection-control protocols.
Support case management activities when appropriate.
Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, facility policies, and professional nursing standards.

Completion of an accredited nursing program.
Knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and medical documentation procedures.
Ability to assess patient needs and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Prior clinical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, long-term care, rehabilitation, or similar healthcare setting. Experience with electronic medical records systems. Certification in Basic Life Support or other relevant clinical certifications, depending on workplace requirements.
