The College Program Support Associate provides instructional, academic, and programmatic support for both The College Experience (CEP) and CareerNext Programs. This position serves a dual role by teaching functional life skills non-credit courses within The College Experience, while also providing academic tutoring and executive functioning support to CareerNext students at the credited level. The position also assists with student recruitment and outreach activities by supporting admissions events, conducting campus tours, and responding to inquiries from prospective students and families. Flexibility is essential, as the position may provide temporary coverage for CareerNext Academic Counselors at partner college campuses or through virtual services as program needs arise.

Instruction Support at the College Experience Teach functional life skills courses for students enrolled in The College Experience at Russell Sage College, in areas including, but not limited to, social navigation, independent living, travel training, budgeting and financial literacy, cooking, healthy relationships, self-advocacy, and other College Experience elective courses.

Foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student independence and personal growth.

Collaborate with the Academic Coordinator regarding curriculum implementation, student progress, and instructional needs.

CareerNext Academic Counselor Support Provide academic tutoring and executive functioning support to CareerNext students to promote academic success and independent learning.

Serve as substitute coverage for CareerNext Academic Counselors at SUNY Cobleskill, Hudson Valley Community College, or through virtual support as needed acting as an Academic Counselor to those on assigned caseloads.

Assist students with organization, time management, study strategies, assignment completion, and self-advocacy.

Maintain appropriate communication with CareerNext staff, students, and parents regarding student progress and support needs.

Recruitment and Admissions Support Assist with College Experience and CareerNext recruitment activities, including open houses, information sessions, campus visits, and special events.

Deliver dynamic presentations and discussions (in-person/virtually) introducing program offerings, outcomes, and support services Respond to phone calls and inquiries from prospective students, families, school personnel, and community partners, providing accurate information about program offerings.

Requirements

Strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills. Ability to work independently, manage time and ability to be flexible to support emergent needs across program locations. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel within assigned tasks. Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications/Skills: Master’s Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting adolescents or young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities or related populations. Experience providing executive functioning coaching or academic support to college students.
