About the role

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering assigned classes and creating a learning environment that helps students reach their goals. Key duties include developing course materials, monitoring student performance, and providing academic coaching to ensure program completion.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with college policy and course objectives.

Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.

Works with students to remove barriers to retention and completion of the program.

Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.

Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).

Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with college policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.

Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments. RETENTION AND STUDENT SUCCESS 1.Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned student advisees in partnership with professional academic advising staff. 2.Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources. 3.Maintain posted office hours and student engagement hours in accordance with campus expectations and the faculty loading policy in the Academic Support and Operations Manual (ASOM 7.2). 4.Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means. Must hold a BS degree to be a course instructor per Ivy Tech policy Must be ARDMS, CCI, or ARRT (S) registered Must be able to teach scheduled courses on campus or via zoom during the hours that students are in class, which is weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm. Days and times could vary based on availability.
