About the role

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering credit and non-credit paramedic science instruction and assessing student progress. They must maintain student records, develop curriculum materials, and ensure a learning environment that respects diversity.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis.

The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the department.

Deliver credit and non-credit classes as assigned dependent upon qualifications.

Teach and train classes as assigned in workplace and campus locations within programming designed to meet specific company learning objectives.

Teaching and training will use contemporary adult learning techniques shown in the corporate training arena.

Teaching load is dictated by project, or projects, not credit hour production.

Work a flexible schedule as dictated by the client company training demand.

Maintain records of student attendance, grades, and other information.

Develop materials as necessary for the effective delivery of curriculum.

Initiate and follow through on evaluation processes that determine the viability of each, and every training program delivered.

Assist in the identification of facilities and equipment needs in the classroom.

Participate in training and professional development as needed.

Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views.

Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Must be a current Instructor in one or more discipline above with at least 6 months' experience teaching classes.

Must have effective communication skills, be able to problem solve, and have knowledge of equipment and software technology used in classroom.

Must have a positive attitude and a passion for teaching lifesaving skills to current and future healthcare providers and first responders.

Must be able to pass School of Health Sciences screening requirements.

Must be an Indiana Certified EMT, Licensed Paramedic, Nurse, or Physician.

Must have flexible schedule to teach classes daytime, evening, and weekends.

In addition, must have ONE or more of the following: Indiana Primary Instructor Certification American Heart Association BLS, ACLS or PALS Instructor NAEMT Instructors in one or more disciplines: PHTLS, AMLS, TECC-LEO, AHDR, GEMS, EVOS or EMS Safety Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.

Requirements

Candidates must be an Indiana Certified EMT, Licensed Paramedic, Nurse, or Physician with at least 6 months of teaching experience. Additionally, they must hold at least one specialized instructor certification such as AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NAEMT disciplines.
