About the role

Provide individualized adaptive swimming instruction to participants with disabilities to help them gain confidence and build endurance. Ensure a safe and nurturing environment while refining swimmers' strokes and water safety skills.

Join Our Adaptive Aquatics Team! Are you passionate about supporting individuals with disabilities and love swimming? We're looking for dedicated team members to help make a difference through our adaptive aquatics program! You'll work one-on-one with swimmers of all ages and abilities—helping them gain confidence in the water, build endurance, and refine their strokes. SCHEDULE:

Sessions take place year-round on Wednesday evenings from 4:00–6:45 PM

Additional Opportunities: Extra hours may be available through our Special Olympics Swim Team or by teaching adaptive private lessons.

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Provide individualized adaptive swimming instruction to participants with disabilities in a safe and nurturing environment.

Qualifications

  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities, preferred.
  • Ability to instruct water safety and swimming skills to others, making modifications based on abilities of each participant.
  • Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: CPR, AED , First Aid , Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
  • Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting in and out of water. Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old and are preferred to have experience working with individuals with cognitive and physical disabilities. Required certifications including CPR, AED, and First Aid must be obtained within the first 90 days.
