About the role

Provide high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to students in the Medical Office Assistant Program. Evaluate student competencies in clinical skills and professional behaviors while maintaining program standards and accreditation.

Announcment of position vacancy about this position summary

The Adjunct Medical Assistant Instructor provides high-quality classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction within the Medical Office Assistant Program. The instructor prepares students for entry-level employment by teaching administrative and clinical medical assisting skills while fostering professionalism, critical thinking, patient safety, and ethical practice.

We are searching for 2 positions, one for our CMUTech campus in Grand Junction, Colorado and one for our satellite campus in Montrose, Colorado.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Other related duties may be assigned.

Instruction Teach assigned courses using approved curriculum and learning outcomes.

Deliver engaging classroom, laboratory, hybrid, or online instruction.

Demonstrate current clinical and administrative medical assisting procedures.

Facilitate hands-on learning in a safe laboratory environment.

Maintain an organized, positive, and professional learning atmosphere.

Student Learning Evaluate student knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviors.

Assess competencies using established program standards.

Provide timely, constructive feedback.

Maintain accurate grade records and attendance.

Identify and refer students needing additional academic support.

Clinical Skills Instruction Teach and evaluate skills such as: Vital signs Medical asepsis and infection prevention Hand hygiene and PPE Venipuncture and capillary puncture Medication administration (within program scope) Electrocardiography (ECG) Specimen collection and processing Medical documentation and EHR Patient communication Patient preparation and rooming Basic laboratory procedures Program Responsibilities Follow all institutional, departmental, and program policies.

Participate in required faculty meetings and training as assigned.

Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA.

Support accreditation standards and program outcomes.

Communicate regularly with the Program Director and Lead Faculty.

Submit grades and required documentation by established deadlines.

Professional Expectations Model professionalism, ethical conduct, and respect.

Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork.

Maintain current knowledge of medical assisting practices.

Promote a culture of patient safety and lifelong learning.

Salary

$600-$850 per credit hour. ‌

Minimum Qualifications

Required: Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent healthcare education and experience. Current medical assisting credential preferred (CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA, or equivalent). Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience. Current BLS certification. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching, training, or precepting experience. Experience using a Learning Management System (such as D2L). Experience in competency-based education. Associate’s degree or higher. Experience with electronic health records. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to demonstrate clinical procedures. Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity necessary to perform clinical skills demonstrations. Work Environment Instruction may occur in: Classroom settings Clinical skills laboratory Simulation laboratory Online or hybrid learning environments Approved clinical education sites

Requirements

Requires a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with at least three years of recent clinical experience and current BLS certification. A medical assisting credential and an associate's degree are preferred.
