Provide educational services to students in school settings. You'll conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and deliver direct therapy to help students improve communication skills and access their education. Modify standard lesson plans and using specialized teaching techniques (e.g., multi-sensory learning, scaffolding) to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Use both formal and informal tools to monitor academic and behavioral performance, then updating IEP goals based on this data. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes general education teachers, parents, school counselors, speech therapists, and administrators to provide holistic support. Coordinate special education documentation, maintaining confidential records, and ensuring legal compliance with federal and state regulations like the Individuals with Disabilities Act. Implement behavior intervention plans, utilizing positive reinforcement, and managing classroom crises to create a safe learning environment.
Requires a current Professional Educator's License and successful completion of criminal and DCS background checks. Preferred candidates have one year of experience as a Special Education Teacher and knowledge of evidence-based practices.
