Responsibilities

The speech therapist will provide speech/language/feeding & swallowing services to the pediatric population age 0-21 with developmental, neurological, and medical based disorders in a school setting. This position performs highly responsible work that will promotequality patient care and efficiency. The speech therapist is responsible for planning and administering evaluations, treatment plans, consults, screenings, parent education and promotes the overall health of the patient. The speech therapist will also collaborate witha multi-disciplinary team including physicians, psychologists, therapists, BCBAs, school staff, and parents to provide holistic services. In addition, this position requires flexibility with scheduled hours as the company continues to thrive and grow.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides skilled speech therapy treatment plans in accordance with physician orders and by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results of patients. Adheres to state requirements for supervision of SLPAs and Clinical Fellows to provide services with the highest care standards Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment/ follow up programs. Promptly and thoroughly documents and maintains clinical and administrative records regarding patient limitations/interventions, treatments, responses and progress to administered therapy as well as discharge summaries. Maintains patient records confidentially. Records treatment charges daily and completes documentation in accurate and timely manner. Complies with the applicable State Speech Therapy Practice Act, codes and regulations Additional Responsibilities: Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. Maintains clean work area, clean treatment rooms and requests needed supplies. Maintains professional appearance and personal conduct at all times. Complies with all company policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and other professionals as it relates to collaboration of care for the patient. Keeps regular clinic hours as approved by Manager. Directs all patient scheduling matters through the front desk coordinator. Attends meetings as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrate knowledge of principles, techniques, materials and equipment in pediatric speech therapy. Ability to evaluate a patient’s speech therapy needs and communicate the patient’s needs to the legal guardian and/or appropriate parties involved in the patient’s care. Ability to communicate with a high degree of written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of CPT & ICD 10 coding procedures. Thorough knowledge of speech therapy principles and practices. Demonstrate working knowledge of computer programs (EMRs) Note: This job description does not list all the duties of the position. Qualifications

Requirements

Candidates must be graduates of an ASHA accredited program with a current state license and CPR certification. A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is required where applicable.
