About the role

Provide medical coverage, injury evaluation, and rehabilitation services for student-athletes during practices and competitions. Coordinate care with healthcare providers and ensure compliance with NJCAA health and safety requirements.

Sussex County Community College is currently recruiting for part time Athletic Trainer. The part-time athletic trainer is essential to support the health, safety, and well-being of our student-athletes. With the continued growth of our athletic programs and the increasing number of teams and participants, additional medical coverage is necessary to:

Provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services.

Ensure adequate coverage for practices, competitions, and special events.

Assist with NJCAA health and safety compliance requirements.

Reduce response times for athletic injuries and medical emergencies.

Support student-athlete wellness and return-to-play protocols.

Help manage the increased workload associated with one of the largest athletic departments in Region XIX.

This position is typically is assumed to be a 9

00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, in-person position, though occasional academic and College events will require limited evening and weekend availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training coverage for practices and competitions.
  • Evaluate and treat athletic injuries.
  • Develop rehabilitation and return-to-play programs.
  • Maintain medical records and injury reports.
  • Coordinate care with physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Educate student-athletes on injury prevention and wellness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for athletic training licensure in New Jersey.
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel with athletic teams as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with collegiate student-athletes, preferably at the community college or NJCAA level.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and injury documentation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with coaches, physicians, and campus personnel.
  • For an NJCAA institution such as Sussex County Community College, experience working with college athletics and knowledge of NJCAA eligibility and participation requirements is often considered a plus.
