The adjunct instructor is responsible for providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to prepare students as entry-level Patient Care Technicians. They will integrate current healthcare practices, patient safety principles, and technical competencies into the curriculum.
Sussex County Community College (SCCC) seeks qualified and experienced healthcare professionals to serve as Adjunct Instructors within the Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program. The adjunct instructor is responsible for providing high-quality classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction that prepares students to perform safely and effectively as entry-level Patient Care Technicians in a variety of healthcare environments.
The Sussex County Community College Patient Care Technician Program is committed to providing students with comprehensive education and hands-on training in the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors required of Patient Care Technicians. Instruction will support student preparation and eligibility to sit for a Patient Care Technician national certification examination accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), as applicable to the certification pathway and eligibility requirements.
Adjunct instructors will integrate current healthcare practices, patient safety principles, technical competencies, professional communication, and employability skills throughout the curriculum.
Day and Evening availability
An associate degree or higher in nursing, allied health, healthcare, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of appropriate healthcare education, professional credentials, and substantial occupational experience as permitted by College policy.
Current professional licensure and/or certification appropriate to the individual's healthcare discipline.
A minimum of two years of recent professional experience in a direct patient-care environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary patient-care practices, infection prevention, patient safety, and healthcare professionalism.
Ability to effectively demonstrate and evaluate clinical and technical patient-care competencies.
Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse educational, professional, and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to meet any health, immunization, background screening, drug screening, CPR/BLS, or other requirements associated with assigned laboratory or clinical instruction.
The Learning Management System (LMS) that we use for is Canvas. Prior knowledge of Canvas or similar learning platform is preferred. Although not a requirement strong technical and computer proficiency is recommended.
Adjunct pay is based on $910 per credit hour.
