About the role

The Special Education Teacher will deliver structured, evidence-based instruction to elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. They will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement individualized programming that promotes student growth and independence.

  • Description Devereux Day Academy – Laguna Hills is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to serve students in an elementary autism classroom. Starting 8/19/2026 $5,000 Sign-on Bonus for fully certfied teachers
  • This role focuses on delivering structured, evidence-based instruction designed to meet the academic, social, communication, and behavioral needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Educational Specialist creates a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment, collaborates with multidisciplinary team members and families, and implements individualized programming that promotes student growth, independence, and positive outcomes within a therapeutic educational setting. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree and a valid California Mild/Moderate Disabilities Educational Specialist Instruction Credential, added Authorization Autism Spectrum Disorder (AAAS) or California Moderate/Severe Disabilities Educational Specialist Instruction Credential.

Experience

  • Special Education instruction experience required. Experience working with students on the Autism Spectrum preferred. Experience with IEP documents and the IEP process. Strong classroom management skills. Strong communication skills. *Sign on bonus paid in 3 installments over 30 days-90 days & 6 months Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree and a valid California Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Disabilities Educational Specialist Instruction Credential. Previous experience in special education and familiarity with the IEP process are required.
