The teacher assistant substitute will assist students with specialized instructional programs and reinforce learning concepts as directed by the teacher. They are also responsible for monitoring student activities in various school settings and providing support for physical and personal hygiene needs.
Wildwood School provides a comprehensive educational program for students with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities to prepare them to be as independent as possible. Academic, social, employment, and functional skills are taught to each student as driven by their Individual Educational Plan (IEP), needs, and interests.
Looking For: An energetic Teacher Assistant Substitute who can engage with our students positively and embraces our mission of “strengthening the well-being of people with disabilities and their families through innovative supports.” Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists students, individually or in groups, with specialized instructional programs prepared by the teacher to present or reinforce learning concepts. Works with teachers to develop and use available instructional resources, materials and equipment appropriate to planned learning programs for students. Helps monitor of students' activities in the halls and cafeteria, on the playground and during arrival and dismissal periods. Attends to the physical needs of students such as helping with clothing, or attending to personal hygiene and toilet habits as needed. Learns and uses behavior management strategies to increase students' participation in the educational program. QualificationsOther Requirements: This position requires 2 weeks of orientation/training. Ability to pass CALM training.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have experience with word processing, internet software, and email. The role requires the ability to pass CALM training and complete a two-week orientation period.
