  • Category: Educator or Special EducatorLanguage Arts Educational Instructor This position entails teaching middle school social studies at an independent therapeutic school with small class sizes, providing opportunities for personalized and hands-on instruction. The role involves fostering students' love for language and literature, nurturing critical thinking skills and creating an innovative and supportive learning environment. Summary of Duties Design and implement academic curriculum and instruction appropriate to each student in the classroom Implement social and behavioral programming for each student in the classroom Develop positive and therapeutic working relationships with youth, families and staff Communicate well with all parties involved with the youth, both verbally and in writing, completing all required paperwork in a timely manner Accept and respond to administrative and professional supervision Work consistently within the program's mission, following and implementing all Academy and agency policies and procedures Willingness to learn de-escalation and passive restraint techniques and ability to restrain youth who are a danger to self or others Compensation and Benefits WCMHS provides a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and a generous retirement contribution match. Our industry-leading paid time off package includes 12.5 flexible holidays per year and 12 days each vacation and paid sick time earned in your first year of employment. The starting pay range for this position is $26.39 - $27.58 per hour. QualificationsSummary of Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree, with a teaching license in the appropriate area of instructional specialization, grades 7 - 12 preferred Bachelor’s degree with extensive knowledge, eighteen college credits, and experience in instructional specialization with teaching experience required Teaching experience with children with severe emotional and behavioral challenges or other mental health issues preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team The ability to deliver services and complete treatment notes in English Work Conditions Work is performed in a classroom and office, frequently standing fifty percent of the time. There is the occasion of traversing outdoors for up to one mile in a continuous session. Requirements
