All faculty are expected to adhere to the Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing Faculty Handbook, College policies, and California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) requirements.
  • Faculty play a key role in integrating: Jean Watson's Theory of Caring Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies The Nursing Process Evidence-based practice and patient-centered care Key Responsibilities Clinical Instruction & Student Development Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experiences in OB/GYN settings. Guide students in applying the nursing process and clinical judgment. Foster critical thinking, professional accountability, and ethical nursing practice. Conduct clinical conferences, competency validations, and student evaluations. Provide coaching, mentoring, and individualized feedback to support student success. Facilitate laboratory instruction and hands-on skill development when assigned. Patient-Centered Care & Clinical Excellence Model best practices in safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care. Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Support student understanding of patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation. Promote quality improvement, safety initiatives, and informed clinical decision-making. QSEN Integration Faculty are expected to incorporate

  • Must possess: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including coursework in nursing or relevant natural, behavioral, or social sciences. Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the assigned nursing area, demonstrated by either: One (1) year of continuous full-time (or equivalent) direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse in the designated nursing area; or One (1) academic year of RN-level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or equivalent experience demonstrating clinical competency. Instructor BRN-approved Instructor. Bachelor's or Master's degree prepared. Responsible for teaching theory and/or clinical courses and coordinating designated nursing areas. Assistant Instructor BRN-approved Assistant Instructor. Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related area. Clinical Teaching Assistant BRN-approved Clinical Teaching Assistant. Minimum of one (1) year continuous full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in a designated nursing specialty area within the previous five (5) years. QualificationsRequired Qualifications Current, unrestricted California Registered Nurse (RN) license. BLS certification required. ACLS and PALS certifications as required by the clinical specialty or assigned unit. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing for Instructor-level positions with a clinical focus that includes advanced education consisting of didactic and supervised clinical practice. Bachelor's degree or higher in Nursing or related field for Assistant Instructor and Clinical Teaching Assistant positions. Minimum two (2) years of successful nursing experience, with two (2) years in the specialty area preferred. Demonstrated clinical expertise in the assigned specialty area. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Ability to articulate and teach nursing theory and clinical practice concepts effectively. Strong customer service orientation and commitment to student success. Computer proficiency. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty certification in the clinical area of expertise. Previous clinical teaching or nursing education experience. Demonstrated ability to develop, teach, and implement evidence-based nursing standards and practices.
