About the role

The Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for creating, monitoring, and supervising individual and team workouts while collaborating with staff on return-to-play protocols. They will also manage facility equipment, maintain electronic records, and model a Christ-centered philosophy to support student-athlete development.

About the Job The Strength and Conditioning Coach will be responsible to create, monitor, and supervise all student-athlete individual and team strength and conditioning workouts.

Other key duties will consist of collaborating with the coaching and training staff to facilitate and implement student athlete return to play protocols, manage all strength and conditioning records, and ensure that strength and conditioning facilities and equipment are functioning properly.

This person must be able to work in a detail-oriented and highly-structured work environment collaboratively with coaches and training staff.

Job Location Fully on-site - must reside and work legally in the U.S.

Regular work location: Lakewood, Colorado.

We’re looking for candidates who have: A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Prefer a minimum of two to five years strength and conditioning experience at the NCAA level.

Current Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist/National Strength & Conditioning Association-Certified Personal Trainer certifications along with CPR/AED, and First Aid.

The ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities.

Able to effectively motivate and supervise student-athletes using a traditional evangelical Christian approach, and willingly support the CCU athletic department.

The initiative and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The ability to remain active, hands-on, fully engaged, and alert while supervising all workouts.

A thorough understanding of, and readiness to implement the CCU Emergency Response Team protocols.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Key Job Duties Contribute to CCU’s mission: CCU provides Christ-centered higher education to transform students to impact the world with grace and truth.

The Strength and Conditioning Coach will support student-athletes' spiritual growth by modeling a Christ-like attitude and philosophy in every aspect of the strength and conditioning program.

This includes intentionally mentoring, encouraging, and praying with student-athletes while challenging them to evaluate how they are living out their personal relationship with Jesus Christ through their preparation, competition, and daily pursuit of excellence in their sport.

Collaborate with coaches to create appropriate and motivating team and individual preseason, season, and postseason strength and conditioning workouts.

Monitor team and individual strength and conditioning workouts to ensure that each athlete is investing maximum effort to gain the greatest gain, using the safest technique possible in every workout.

Conduct incremental preseason and postseason performance assessments to measure student-athlete growth in strength, flexibility, speed, and conditioning.

Create and monitor optional team summer workouts, and provide summer hours in which CCU athletes can use campus facilities to complete these optional workouts.

Manage all strength and conditioning records electronically.

Ensure that all strength and conditioning equipment and facilities are in excellent working order.

Model, demonstrate, and ensure that student athletes are implementing correct techniques that will optimize safety and growth during their workouts.

Whenever possible and as assigned, attend games and contests to facilitate pregame warm-ups and dynamic stretching.

Work collaboratively with coaches and athletic trainers to implement and facilitate return to play protocols for injured athletes.

Serve as a game administrator when multiple events necessitate additional game administrative coverage.

Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk, stand, sit, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, speak with clarity, and have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

You will be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.

Colorado Christian University expects all faculty and staff to become a part of the University community by participating in activities and events that occur on the campus throughout the year, which may occur during evenings and weekends.

Colorado Christian University’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity; along with budgetary considerations for effective stewardship.

Pay will be assigned based on relevant experience at a range of $52,000-$56,000.

We reserve the right to pay an equitable rate that we believe is within our salary structure or that may fit a candidate’s qualifications or experience for the job.

CCU reserves the right to make pay decisions based on economic and equity considerations to attract the best possible talent.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree and possess current CSCS or NSCA-CPT certifications along with CPR/AED and First Aid. A minimum of two to five years of strength and conditioning experience at the NCAA level is preferred.
