About the role

The instructor will supervise and provide clinical instruction to practical nursing students in mental health and psychiatric settings. They will also participate in departmental activities and collaborate with course faculty to support student learning.

Position announcement: Adjunct Mental Health Instructor (Practical Nursing) – McMinnville and Coffee County Campuses

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – McMinnville is accepting applications for the part-time position of Adjunct Mental Health Instructor (Practical Nursing) for the both the McMinnville and Coffee County Campuses.

Position information

Position Type: Part time, Non-Exempt

Hours

  • Mondays and
  • Wednesdays from 6:30am – 4:00pm

Compensation: $35/hour

***This is not a remote position.

  • Minimum requirements
  • Associated Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution
  • Current Registered Nurse license in good standing in the State of Tennessee
  • Minimum or three (3) years of experience as an RN within the last 5 years
  • Desire to teach
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as with Tablets and hand-held devices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Mental Health Nursing
  • Essential duties & responsibilities
  • Instruction and supervision of practical nursing students in the clinical agency in one of the following nursing area: Mental Health/Psychiatric.
  • Instruct and supervise nursing students in the clinical agency.
  • Function under the direction of the course faculty or Director of Nursing for the course.
  • Participate in departmental activities associated with the instructional program.
  • Participate in departmental activities associated with the instructional program.
  • Participate in departmental activities associated with the instructional program needs.
  • Communicate clearly with students and colleagues.
  • Work effectively with traditional and non-traditional students including but not limited to the culturally and ethnically diverse.

Requirements

Candidates must hold an Associate Degree in Nursing and a current Registered Nurse license in Tennessee with at least three years of experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with tablets are also required.
