The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities, and classroom routines. They are responsible for supervising children and ensuring compliance with PHLpreK and CACFP program requirements.
Wonderspring, a nonprofit early childhood education organization, is seeking a dedicated team member to support our PHLpreK Lead Teacher at our New Market West Center in a Preschool classroom.
In this role, you will support the Lead Teacher in our PHLpreK classroom as part of our partnership with the Philadelphia School District. Support the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, learning activities, and classroom routines. Supervise children in your care Assist with all tasks associated with the daily schedule Teachers in programs participating in CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) must follow additional serving and preparation procedures, including implementing family-style serving. Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment Follow and adhere to the responsibilities outlined by the lead teacher for the classroom. Comply with the partnership requirements of PHLpreK. Develop a strong relationship with your School District team Observe, document, and celebrate each child’s progress, sharing their victories (big and small) with proud parents.
High School Diploma/GED Minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) 2+ years of experience working with children Strong teamwork and flexibility Ability to keep information private Basic knowledge of childcare rules Must obtain all required clearances and complete a Health Assessment with TB screening prior to employment.
