About the role

The Youth Specialist provides direct supervision and academic support to middle school students in a safe and educational environment. They facilitate engaging activities while modeling YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Description

  • The YMCA is seeking energetic and dedicated child care Youth Specialists to provide direct supervision in a safe, fun and educational environment for all Middle School Academy participants. Our Leaders provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on
  • YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. If you have a strong desire to encourage learning, mentor and be a positive role model for children, you may have an opportunity for a rewarding career with the YMCA.

Schedule

  • Before-school hours: 7:00am - 9:30am.
  • After-school hours: 3:30pm - 6:00pm. Flexible schedules may consist of before school, after school, or a combination of both.

Duties

Supervises an assigned group of children to ensure safety Nurtures children and provides academic growth opportunities that support the school curriculum Engages children by facilitating program activities that are designed to enrich their lives Establishes a positive rapport with children, parents, and staff while maintaining a positive and professional attitude at all times

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a high school diploma or equivalent or if currently enrolled in high school or a GED program & graduation is anticipated within 2 years. 1 year previous child care experience is preferred Desire and ability to work with children of all ages Demonstrated responsibility and dependability Excellent communication skills CPR/AED and First Aid Certification preferred, but will provide Pass a 10-panel drug screen Clear a Level 2 background check
  • Pay & Perks: Part-time, $15.00 per hour. Approximately 25-30 hours per week. Free YMCA membership for employee and discount for family. *Level 2 background clearance through DCF (Florida) required. Check out this link for more information: https://info.flclearinghouse.com
