About the role

The swim instructor will provide direct leadership and instruction for swim classes to participants of all ages. They are responsible for ensuring proper technique, safety, and an engaging learning environment in accordance with YMCA standards.

  • Description: The Y is the nation's largest provider of swim lessons, dedicated to improving water safety and swimming skills for all ages. As a part-time Swim Instructor, you'll provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants in our swim classes.

Duties

  • Teach swimming and water safety skills to students of varying ages and ability levels, from Parent/Child to Adult classes.
  • Instruct students in swimming and exercise fundamentals in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Ensure proper technique, appropriate use of equipment, and a safe, engaging learning environment.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Comfortable working with participants of all ages and skill levels.
  • Current certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Swim Instructor training are a plus.
  • In-house training is available for qualified candidates.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper swim instruction techniques and safely lift equipment and small-to-average-size children.
  • Pass a 10-panel drug screen.
  • Clear a Level 2 background check*

Pay & Perks

  • Part-time, $15.00–$20.00 per hour. Free individual YMCA membership and discount for household family members.
