As an Before & After School Counselor, you will help bring our mission to life by implementing engaging curriculum, building positive relationships, and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth through high-quality programming.
Provide excellent service to all students, families, co-workers, and school administration. Meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of the children in their care. Work in a team environment; build and maintain healthy, cooperative relationships. Communicate positively and effectively with the Site Director. Adhere to all policies and procedures both organizationally and departmentally to ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff. Model positive behavior and educate children in a manner which contributes to mature and responsible behavior. Complete all Discover After School and governmentally required training in the required time frame. Implement the curriculum and schedule provided on a daily basis and provide feedback to such on a weekly basis. Required Qualifications: Must complete the 40-hour Introductory Child Care Training approved by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) prior to start date (Training is free and completed online at your own pace) (Candidates who already possess these certifications are strongly preferred)https://www.myflfamilies.com/services/child-family/child-care/child-care-facility-school-age-children Must also complete one of the following: Part II “Special Needs Appropriate Practices” or at least 8 hours of training in serving children with disabilities 10-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” module 5-hour “Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices” and 5-hour “School-Age Appropriate Practices” courses Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma. Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening & Drug Screening. First Aid, CPR, and AED certification (can be provided by Discover After School).
