Description Summary The Assistant Rowing Coach supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the rowing program, helping to deliver effective practices, foster athlete development, and ensure a safe and inclusive team environment. This role involves working directly with student-athletes while also assisting with team organization, administrative tasks, and competition planning.
Participate with the head coach in running practices, including on land and on water as needed. Drive a launch and supervise boats on the water independently, including teaching novice rowers the fundamentals of rowing, fitness, and safety. Work with the Head Coach to build and maintain team rosters. Coordinate with the school athletic department to maintain proper safety and eligibility documentation. Assist in coordinating logistics for competitions, including schedules, equipment preparation, and volunteer/parent organization. High school diploma or equivalent Rowing experience at the high school, college, or masters (adult) level. Competitive experience is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and a willingness to hone existing skills and learn new ones Previous coaching experience or other experience working with children of any sort is preferred but not required. This position requires a background check and completion of the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville before interacting with students
