About the role

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach supports the development and implementation of training programs for student-athletes to enhance performance and reduce injury risk. Responsibilities include supervising sessions, teaching proper exercise techniques, and maintaining the athletic training environment.

Description Saint Xavier High School is seeking a highly motivated Part-Time Assistant Strength Coach to join our Strength & Conditioning staff. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about athletic development and is looking to gain hands-on experience in a high-performance environment.

Summary The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for student athletes across multiple sports. This position works directly with student-athletes to enhance their athletic performance, reduce risk of injury, and promote overall physical development through safe and effective training practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in the supervision and coaching of strength and conditioning sessions for student-athletes across multiple sports, providing instruction and support throughout scheduled workouts. Teach and reinforce proper exercise techniques, movement mechanics, and training habits to promote safe and effective athletic development. Help maintain a safe, organized, and energetic athletic training environment that encourages engagement, accountability, and proper equipment use. Assist with equipment setup, routine maintenance, and organization of training spaces. Support the Director of Strength & Conditioning with daily operations and special projects as needed. Maintain a professional and positive presence in all interactions with the school community. Comply with all KHSAA, school, and departmental policies and regulations. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with strength and conditioning best practices. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sport Science, or related field preferred. Previous experience working with athletes in coaching, training, or other athletic settings. High school, collegiate, or private training experience preferred. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or other NSCA certification preferred; candidates actively pursuing or willing to obtain certification will also be considered. CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred, or willingness to obtain. Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Passion for developing young athletes and promoting excellence on and off of the field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students and colleagues. Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a school environment. Proficient in email communication, word processing, and presentation software, including tools within Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. This position requires a background check and completion of the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville before interacting with students.
