SUMMARY: The hourly Special Education Paraprofessional pay rate to work on assignment in Newport School District is $18/hour 5 days of Paid Time Off (prorated based on hire date) The Special Education Paraprofessional will work on student days following the academic calendar year Special Education Paraprofessionals will support students in one of the following areas: Autistic, Emotional, Instructional, Learning, and Life Skills OPENINGS FOR THE '26-'27 SCHOOL YEAR: ELEMENTARY: Kindergaten Support (1) SECONDARY: Middle School Learning Support Para (1) Middle School Life Skills / Autistic Support Para (1) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting students' academic, behavioral, social, and personal growth within the classroom and school environment.

Responsibilities include: Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to individual students or small groups, including on-task prompting, social skills development, and self-care assistance.

Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans by implementing accommodations and strategies as directed.

Reinforce learning concepts, classroom instruction, and skill development to help students achieve their educational goals.

Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide targeted academic and behavioral support.

Assist students in developing organizational, communication, problem-solving, and independent living skills.

Guide students through classroom activities, monitor participation and progress, and provide feedback to instructional staff.

Promote positive student behavior and help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and school administrators to support student success.

Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, transitions, and other non-instructional school activities.

Foster positive relationships with students while encouraging independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma required With less than 2 years post secondary, must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB Associates or Bachelors Degree - preferred Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred CREDENTIALING : (CCRES paid clearances & TB screening) PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance PA Department of Education FBI TB Screening Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcript Employer paid: Base medical plan for employee, life insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Employees scheduled for 30+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits Employees scheduled for 20+ hours per week are eligible for dental, vision, and other supplemental benefits: Life insurance, short-term disability, accidental, critical illness, hospital indemnity, Norton Life Lock identity protection CCRES 403 (b) Retirement Savings Plan – 3% matching contribution Tuition discounts through collegiate partnerships Milestone service award Gift card raffle on pay-day Fridays Paid credential renewals Paid trainings
